Linsey Metcalf was a loved member of the Whyalla community who lived her life to the fullest, until she lost her battle with Cervical Cancer in December 2021. Linsey left four children without a mother, breaking their hearts for life. Linsey’s family and friends are so passionate about providing awareness for the identification, early intervention, and prevention of gynaecological cancers. Some gynaecological cancers can be treated successfully if identified early and we want everyone to know that.
The purpose of the Foundation is to prevent other families from losing their loved ones from cancers that can be identified early through a simple cervical screening. Providing awareness and strategies for early intervention is crucial to saving lives.
Linsey’s Legacy Foundation was born out of Linsey’s family and friend’s grief, who now have an extreme focus on providing education to prevent other families from experiencing the trauma, emotional and financial stress from undergoing cancer treatment and possible death of their family member.
Our second purpose is to provide comfort packages and financial support to families who are required to have extended stays in Adelaide. It is our intention to relieve the financial and emotional stress that comes from being away from your family.
Linseys closest family and friends developed the foundation in 2023. Linsey’s Legacy Foundation received charity status in May 2023 through ACNC, and in August 2023 gained deductible gift recipient (DGR) status through the Australian Tax Office.
Let’s get the message out there and save our women.
